There are plenty of loyalty schemes for different types of companies like airlines or credit cards, which give some customers access to a luxury lounge or discounts or early access to tickets.

Now it looks like broadcasting giant Sky wants to get in on the action, by allowing some of its longest serving customers to get free broadband upgrades, sneak peaks at some TV shows and Sky Q.

Customers who have been with the company for up to three years will be considered silver members. That gets bumped up to gold when you reach three to eight years with Sky, while platinum is reserved for those users with eight to 15 years' experience. And then there's black membership - for Sky customers of more than 15 years.

According to Alphr, VIP Sky members can get their hands on some juicy events including:

  • Access to prize draws for experiences including a trip to Iceland to see the filming locations for Game Of Thrones.
  • Free tickets to sporting events including the Premier League and EFL, international and domestic cricket, Autumn Internationals, the NFL International Series and European Tour Golf, as well as exclusive Sky Sports events where customers will get VIP treatment and hospitality.
  • Free tickets to exclusive cinema preview screenings across the country.
  • Free tickets to other events across the UK, which include being in the audience for Thronecast, Soccer AM and A League of Their Own; tickets to National Theatre Live screenings and tickets to Goodwood.

Stephen Van Rooyen, Sky's UK and Ireland Chief Executive, has told the Sun: "The launch of Sky VIP is about putting our existing customers first and showing we value their loyalty.

"This isn't about tactical deals or collecting points - it's about offering genuine experiences and benefits we know our customers value and which only Sky can offer.

"That's why we are gathering every single ticket that we have from our sports partners and giving them to our customers, alongside free tickets to exclusive film previews and money-can't-buy experiences."

Sky had already launched a similar system in Italy before waiting to see how it could adapt the program to a UK audience. But Marketing Week says customers will have to download the app to gain access to scheme, because the broadcaster wants more people to use it.
