I think we can all agree that United Airlines is having a shit time at the moment.

After the shocking footage emerged of passenger Dr David Dao being dragged off a plane - its stock market price fell $770 million (£613 million).

A second man came forward to say he had previously been threatened with handcuffs, after paying for a first-class ticket, because the flight had been oversold.

In the same week, a report also showed that more pets died under the care of United than any other US airline in 2016.

And just when you thought that wasn't enough of a PR headache - a fucking scorpion fell onto the head of a passenger on the way from Houston to Calgary.

Now, it appears that a couple who were travelling to their own wedding have become part of the latest on-board scandal.

Introducing Amber Maxwell and Michael Hohl. They were flying from Houston to Liberia, Costa Rica, for their big day.

According to the couple, they arrived on the plane and found a stranger sprawled across their seats.

Deciding it wasn't an issue, they say found two other seats elsewhere on the 'half empty' plane.

Michael told KHOU-TV: "We thought, 'not a big deal,' it's not like we are trying to jump up into a first-class seat.

We were simply in an economy row a few rows above our economy seat."

The couple said a flight attendant approached them and asked them to go back to their original seats.

Shortly after moving back, however, the pair claim that an air marshal arrived and told them to get off the plane.

"They said that we were being disorderly and a hazard to the rest of the flight, to the safety of the other customers," Michael said.

However, the airline offered a different version of events to Amber and Michael's story.

Apparently the couple were trying to sit in Economy Plus - which obviously costs extra.

Despite being given the chance to purchase the upgrade, the airline claims that Amber and Michael refused and wouldn't follow the flight attendant's instructions to go back to their seats.

United Airlines said in a statement: "We're disappointed anytime a customer has an experience that doesn't measure up to their expectations.

"These passengers repeatedly attempted to sit in upgraded seating which they did not purchase and they would not follow crew instructions to return to their assigned seats.

"We've been in touch with them and have rebooked them on flights tomorrow."

According to Mashable, a United Airlines spokeswoman said that no air marshals or authorities were involved in getting the couple to leave the plane.
