Little Boy Invites Whole Class To Birthday Party And No-One Turns Up

Poor lad.

If you like crying at your desk on a Monday afternoon then I have the perfect story for you. This adorable little lad was left devastated after no one turned up for his ninth birthday. I've been left gutted by just reading it.

Kristen Layne is a blogger and mum-of-six who decided to share her son's sad experience. Really tugging at the heart-strings, she writes that her son, Mahlon, who she calls Mae Mae, wanted a Diary of a Wimpy Kid themed party and that he invited all his classmates. On the day, he said to her: "This is the happiest day of my life, Momma. I can't wait until my friends get here!" Crying yet?

She also uploaded lots of photos of his happy smiling face.

The family blew up balloons, pinned banners, ordered pizza and bought a cake, but as party-time arrived and then passed, they realised that no one else was going to show. According to Kristen, none of the invited RSVP-ed but her husband told her this was normal and that people would arrive. Sadly, he was wrong.

Family members came along and they ate pizza and cake, and eventually went bowling. But then Mae Mae began sobbing as he told his dad: "I guess I'm not very popular at school." How about now? Are you crying?

However, this story does have a bit of a happy ending. Stop crying. After sharing Mae Mae's sad tale, tons of people got in touch to pass on well wishes, send cards, offer support and deliver presents.

Bit cruel getting him walkie-talkies, who is going to give the other one to? Credit: www.peanutlayne.com

Now Mae Mae wants to set up his own company to ensure, 'each and every child has a very happy birthday and that no one feels sad and lonely on their birthday'.

What a wonderful kid.
