We've all heard the stories of teenagers who find themselves with a free house, post an invite on Facebook, forget to set it to private and end up with 20,000 'guests' and £90,000 worth of damage to their mum and dad's house.

Well, in an unusual turn of events it was actually this teenager's parents who ruined the party by posting a seemingly open-invite on Facebook.

Fifteen-year-old Rubi Ibarra García had her quinceañera (a celebration of a 15th birthday) ruined after thousands of strangers crashed the bash in San Luis Potosí, Mexico on Boxing Day.

Her dad, Crescencio, posted a video to Facebook, inviting people to celebrate with them. In the clip he says in Spanish: "Hello, how are you doing? We invite you on December 26 to our daughter Rubi Ibarra Garcia's quinceañera party." He then goes on to list some bands that will be playing.

Now, I'm not sure what it was about this clip, perhaps it was the spot-on hat, but whatever it was it caught the eyes of millions of social media users and the video went viral, with more than one million people RSVP-ing, according to Fox5.

Although not all of those turned up, it was still a crush and ruined the day for Rubi and her family. A number of members of the media also showed up.
