The identical twin-brother of a convicted murderer has claimed that it was in fact him who committed the murder.
Kevin Dugar has been in custody since 2003 and was handed 54 years in prison after he shot into a group of three people, killing one.

However, the Chicago Tribune reports that his brother Karl Smith testified in court on Thursday that it was him who did it.
"I'm here to confess to a crime I committed that he was wrongly accused of," Smith said, as his brother looked on.
It remains unclear whether the brothers actually pulled the old switcheroo, with county prosecutors questioning the admission, telling Judge Vincent Gaughan that Smith only came forward after an appeals court upheld his own conviction for attempted murder.

"He's got nothing to lose," Assistant State's Attorney Carol Rogala said, according to the Chicago Tribune.
According to Fox News, Smith is serving a 99-year prison sentence for being part of a home invasion and armed robbery in 2008 in which a six-year-old boy was shot in the head.
Dugar's lawyer, Karen Daniel, says the evidence against her client during his trial was thin. It is still unclear whether her client will get a new trial.
