ITV Outrages The Nation By Replacing 'The Chase' With Game Show Hosted By Rylan

ITV Outrages The Nation By Replacing 'The Chase' With Game Show Hosted By Rylan

It's the news that nobody wanted to hear.

Anybody who's a fan of quality quiz shows will be gutted to hear The Chase is going to be taken off TV. What's more in its place will be show hosted by former X Factor contestant Rylan, a double-whammy of shit news.

I'm not ordinarily one to judge a show before I watch it, but given that Bradley Walsh-fronted programme is the yardstick by which every other quiz show is assessed, it's safe to assume that Rylan's Babushka is going to be unable to fill the quiz-shaped hole in nation's heart.

In fact, TV viewer's reaction to the news went something like this...

Rylan's show will begin a month-long, 20 episode run from 1 May, and see contestants using their knowledge to search through 10 giant Russian 'babushka' dolls, in a bid to win a huge cash prize.

If a doll is empty, hopefuls will lose all their accumulated money. But if they choose a smaller doll, it means the contestants can continue to try to win the money.

It will take over The Chase's usual 5pm weekday slot on ITV.

A TV insider told the Sun: "From his showbiz segment on This Morning to presenting Xtra Factor - Rylan has been a huge hit with ITV viewers.

"Given his energetic and bubbly personality, ITV chiefs think Rylan will be the perfect presenter for this fun new game show.

"They were thrilled to get him on-board and bosses are now on the hunt for willing participants."

Needless to say the reaction to the news The Chase is being temporarily pulled wasn't good...

However, Chaser Jenny Ryan took to social media to comfort fans about the change to the TV schedule, reassuring them that the show was only taking 'a few weeks off'.

So hopefully The Chase will be back to its rightful place on television very soon, having provided so many fantastic moments over the years.

A recent episode of The Chase saw Bradley Walsh struggle to contain his laughter after a rude word that popped up in an answer.

In a head-to-head with The Beast, contestant David was asked to identify the word which meant a state governed by its worst citizens.

The three option he was presented with were: 'kratocracy', 'kleptocracy' and 'kakistocracy', the last of which caused a great deal of amusement for Bradley.

Cack - you get it? It means shit. Cack. Hilarious.

David opted for the first answer, kratocracy, in the end - and the presenter was reduced to tears when he found out that kakistocracy was the right answer.

Bradley exploded in laughter and said: "Kakistocracy is a good word. What a load of cack they are."

Adding that he wished he'd been aware of the word sooner so he could drop it into casual conversation.

Luckily for the team, David wasn't deterred by the wrong answer and managed to bag £2,000 for the prize fund.

Sadly, The Beast showed them why that's his name by destroying them in the final round.
