The memes are horrendous.

Katie Price has opened up about how trolls have targeted her disabled teenage son, Harvey, with horrific abuse.

The former glamour model also announced that she has launched a petition to make online abuse a criminal offence.

Katie shared a number of cruel racist memes targeting Harvey, who suffers from a range of medical conditions.

One of the disgusting images was captioned: "What's black and screams? Harvey Price answering a phone."

Another racist meme had 14-year-old Harvey's head photoshopped onto the body of a Freddo chocolate bar.

A third implied Harvey had sexual feelings towards his mum, which Katie said made her 'so angry'.

Harvey, whose farther is former Manchester United footballer Dwight Yorke, suffers from septo-optic dysplasia, which causes blindness.

He is also on the autistic spectrum and gains weight easily due to his Prader-Willi syndrome.

Writing on the online petition page she said that trolling has become 'a major problem in this day and age'.

She added: "People of all ages and background suffer every day, including my family - especially my son, Harvey. I have tried my best to expose people and even had two arrested but nothing was done and there were no repercussions or penalties for this behaviour.

"This does not affect just high-profile people it affects everyone from every walk of life from young children, teenagers, people at work, husbands and wives. This abuse includes racism, homophobia, body shaming and a whole range of other hate speech.

"This petition is an important topical issue and I want it to help bring justice to everyone who has ever suffered at the hands of trolls. Help me to hammer home worldwide that bullying is unacceptable whether it's face-to-face or in an online space."

Her petition already has more than 500,000 signatures, meaning it just needs 50,000 more to be considered for debate in Parliament.

In January, an online troll who mocked Harvey was sacked after being exposed by the media.

Mark Williams, 30, had also championed Adam Johnson, the footballer who was convicted last year of sexually assaulting a school girl, calling him his 'new favourite player'.

Last year, the Crown Prosecution Service issued new guidance that revealed trolls could end up in court.

The Director of Public Prosecutions, Alison Saunders, said: "The internet is not an anonymous place where people can post without any consequences. People should think about their own conduct.

"If you are grossly abusive to people, if you are bullying or harassing people online, then we will prosecute in the same way as if you did it offline."

You can view and sign the petition on the UK Government and Parliament website.
