A French newspaper has reported that one of the robbers arrested in relation to Kim Kardashian's Paris Fashion Week heist told police that stalking her on social media was essential to planning the attack.

Aomar Ait Khedache, a 60-year-old veteran robber, said that the thieves were able to perform an appraisal of Kardashian's jewels - and knew about her trip to Paris - from her social media posts, according to Le Monde.

"The jewels were shown on the internet, and [she said] that she didn't wear fakes . . . the time she would arrive in France, you just had to look at the Internet and you knew everything, absolutely everything," he said in the police report obtained by the newspaper.

Following the robbery, Kardashian took a break from social media and from posting on her website. However, she returned to Instagram at the beginning of this year.

Khedache also claims that someone 'very close' to Kim gave the criminals 'precise information' about Kardashian's plans whilst she was in the French capital.

He also said that all the jewellery stolen, besides Kardashian's $4 million (£3.18m) engagement ring, has been melted down and sold off.

During the attack, Kardashian was bound and gagged, then robbed at gunpoint of jewelry worth almost £9 million.

Khedache, also known as 'The Old Man', was one of 17 people who was rounded up by French police earlier this month in connection with the October robbery. He is being held without bail.

A total of 10 have now been charged in relation to the robbery, including five who played a direct role in the heist.

But the robbery isn't the only crime allegedly committed against the Kardashian family last year.

In his track 'Real Friends', released last year, Kanye uses a set of lyrics to suggest he had been blackmailed over the theft of one of his laptop computers.

Lawrence Franklin, one of Kanye's cousins (but not the one who was accused of blackmailing him), told the Daily Mail that the relative found a sex tape of Kanye on an old laptop he had given to them as a gift in 2012 and demanded cash to keep it private, which is pretty low.

He said: "The family member knew what he had was gold, and later called an old friend of his that was an attorney. He put together a small team. He and his attorney went after Kanye, and to show that they meant business they leaked a little information publicly to let it be known they indeed had the footage.

"The family member tried to keep a low profile but it was not long before Kanye's team learned who it was that had the sex tape."

He went on to say that this was what started his decline and eventually his recent breakdown. He claims that after the incident he distanced himself from his family and struggled to trust anyone. "Where do you go? Who do you trust at the end of the day?" he said.

This all took place around the time that Kanye's mum, Donda, passed away, which Franklin also believes is part of the reason for Kanye's recent hospital stay due to 'exhaustion and sleep deprivation'.
