Murderer Requests Huge 5,000 Calorie Meal Ahead Of Execution

Murderer Requests Huge 5,000 Calorie Meal Ahead Of Execution

It's a 5,000-calorie meal.

James Dawson

A murderer on death row - scheduled to be executed by lethal injection later today - requested a whopping 5,000-calorie meal ahead of meeting his maker.

J.W. 'Boy' Ledford, who was 20-years-old when he stabbed his elderly neighbour to death in 1992, has asked prison bosses for - and it's a big ol' list so let me go head and start a whole new paragraph here.

A filet mignon wrapped in bacon with pepper jack cheese, large french fries, 10 chicken tenders with sauce, fried pork chops, a blooming onion, pecan pie with vanilla ice cream, sherbet and a Sprite.

The Department for Corrections released Ledford's requested meal before his execution at Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison in Jackson, Georgia, US.

Ledford's lawyers had asked for US authorities kill their client by firing squad rather than lethal injection as a number of lethal injections have been botched in the US over the past few years - but this was rejected.

Ledford follows in the proud American tradition of psychopaths, murderers and rapists pigging out ahead of their last moments on God's green earth.

Here are some of the meals other death row inmates have requested for their final meal...

John Wayne Gacy

Not one of the 'oh, I couldn't stomach a thing!' variety, John Wayne Gacy, known as the 'Killer Clown', ordered a dozen deep-friend shrimp, a bucket of KFC chicken, fries and a pound of strawberries prior to his lethal injection on 10 May 1984 in Illinois.

Philip Workman

Instead of opting for his own final meal, Workman, who was sentenced to death in May 2009 after murdering a police officer in Nashville, asked that a vegetarian pizza be delivered to homeless people in the nearby area.

Prison officials ended up dismissing the request, but homeless shelters were inundated with pizzas as a result of Workman's wish when he was executed.

Timothy McVeigh

Like Gracy, mass murderer Timothy McVeigh was put to death by lethal injection.

Prior to his execution in Indiana, on 11 June 2001, he requested two pints of Ben & Jerry's mint choc-chip ice cream as his final dish.

McVeigh had been responsible for the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing that left 168 people dead and hundreds more injured.

Velma Barfield

In 1984, the 'Death Row Granny' Velma Barfield was the first woman to be executed since the reinstatement of capital punishment in 1976.

As her last meal, Barfield asked for a bag of Cheez Doodles, the American equivalent of Wotsits, and a can of Coca-Cola.

Barfield was initially convicted of one murder but ended up confessing to three more.

Aileen Carol Wuornos

Convicted of murdering seven men in Florida, serial killer and prostitute Aileen Carol Wuornos was lethally injected on October 9, 2002.

Declining a special, formal final meal, she was served up a simple cup of coffee instead.

Ted Bundy

One of the most notorious serial killers to have ever lived, Ted Bundy rejected a last meal prior to his execution by electric chair on 24 January 1989.

He was offered as a default option the classic plate of steak, eggs, hash browns and coffee but refused to eat any of it.

The former law student had been on death row for the murder of 30 women.

James Edward Smith

This one's where it gets a bit weird. Executed in Texas in June 1990, James Edward Smith asked prison officers for a lump of dirt as his last meal on Earth.

I probably shouldn't have to inform you that the officials denied the request and ended up giving the man yoghurt as a substitute.

Smith was in prison for a murder and robbery in Houston, Texas.

Odell Barnes Jr.

Topping Smith somewhat, Odell Barnes Jr.'s request was not just off the list of approved foods, but above anyone's grasp whatsoever.

Hours before meeting his maker, Barnes had asked for 'world peace' as his swansong meal in March 2000.

A tricky one to get around, prison officials had to sadly reject his order. Just think about what our world would be like now had they agreed to bring global strife and conflict to an end.

Thomas J. Grasso

Executed in 1995 for the murder of an 87-year-old woman by strangling her with Christmas tree lights, Grasso requested that he indulge in a meal of two dozen steamed mussels, two dozen steamed clams, a Burger King double cheeseburger, six barbecued spare ribs, two large milkshakes, a tin of SpaghettiOs with meatballs, half a pumpkin pie and strawberries and creams.

That's some fucking course.

To Grasso's utter horror, the kitchen staff made a small but vital mistake with his request.

"I did not get my SpaghettiOs," were Grasso's last words. "I got spaghetti. I want the press to know this."

Lawrence Russell Brewer

Perhaps the most gargantuan final meal came with Lawrence Russell Brewer's request in September 2010.

The order was so OTT that Texan inmates actually lost the privilege of choosing their final meal

Brower had asked for two fried chickens, steaks with gravy and sliced onions, a triple-patty bacon cheeseburger, a cheese omelette with ground beef, tomatoes, onions, bell peppers and jalapeños, a bowl of fried okra with ketchup, one pound of barbecued meat with half a loaf of white bread, three fajitas, a meat-feast pizza, one pint of Blue Bell ice cream, a slab of peanut butter fudge with crushed peanuts and, last but not at all least, three root beers to wash it all down.
