The Internet is a great thing and is responsible for a lot of good things in the world; it brings people closer together, opens up an entire world of knowledge for anyone who wants it and is full of funny cat pictures. It is also responsible for a lot of bad shit in the world; racists and bigots can have free-reign unfettered and if you've ever had your bank details stolen online you'll know how much of a pain in the arse that is.

Additionally, the Internet is home to a lot of, just, really weird stuff that makes you question humans.

Like this new trend which is kicking off over on Twitter, where people are dislocating their own thumbs for fun.

Yeah, that's people intentionally dislocating their thumbs because a meme shows them how. No, I don't know why you do that either.

Apparently, it all started with this tweet:

And it quickly gained momentum, with dozens of others tearing apart their ligaments, because that is where we are as a species now.




Some people on Twitter are asking 'did it hurt?' rather than the more pertinent, 'why the fuck did you do this you fucking moron?'
