So the bizarre love-in between Russian president Vladimir Putin and B-movie star Steven Seagal continues.

Earlier this month we reported that Mother Russia had decided to sign up the living Internet meme to stand in their corner as a citizen of the country as tensions escalated between the US and the eastern power over the Syrian civil war.

The US actor and martial artist is a long-time supporter of Russia, the country his family once hailed from. In the past Seagal has said he is friends with ol' Vladimir and has called him "one of the greatest world leaders."

Sitting at a round table in the Kremlin today, the Russian president showed the Hollywood star where to sign the passport. The two men shook hands and Putin said: "I congratulate you," with Seagal answering, in Russian: "Thank you very much."

"He is a rather well-known actor, which became the reason for granting him Russian Federation citizenship," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on a conference call with reporters, according to Reuters.

Seagal has joined the ranks of other famous US citizens who were granted Russian citizenship recently, along with boxer Roy Jones and mixed-martial arts fighter Jeff Monson.
