Everyone loves The Simpsons, but not everyone loves The Simpsons so much that they would tattoo their body with Homer Simpson's face 52 times on their arm and imply that he is their 'daddy'.

Ricky Viner on the other hand is trying to set a new world record by doing just that.

The restaurant manager, 32, proper loved watching The Simpsons TV series when he was a little'un and said he viewed Homer as a 'father figure'.

It took a painstaking 14 hours to complete and covers Ricky's right arm from shoulder to wrist. It shows Homer's face dozens of times, in a variety of expressions.

Australian Michael Baxter, 52, currently holds the record for the most tattoos of characters from an animation series, with a staggering 203 different Simpsons tattoos on his back - which Ricky is still a long way off.

But Ricky does want to set a new record for a single character.

He said: "I was getting a tattoo of an anime character done on my arm when a conversation about world records arose with my tattooist.

"We talked about the bloke who holds the current world record for the most cartoon characters tattooed on his body and that's when we came up with the idea of having a crack at a new record.

"Some of the outlines really hurt - especially the ones on the crease where my bicep meets my forearm - it was remarkably painful.

"The tattooist from the tattoo parlour is an excellent artist and very quick, but it still took 14 painful hours to get the sleeve completed."

Ricky reckons that he 'instantly fell in love' with The Simpsons when he first watched at the little'ol age of eight.

"I was adopted when I was a kid and never really had a father, so in a funny way Homer became the father figure I always wanted," he said.

He won't be getting in the Guinness World Record just yet though, the restaurant manager will first need to provide proof, including a report from a dermatologist or doctor to say that the tattoos are real.
