'Vampire' Couple Drink Each Other's Blood To Show Commitment

They compare it to wearing a wedding ring.

There are lots of ways to cement your relationship and show commitment to your partner. You can start by deleting Tinder, and then we've got moving in together, introducing them to your folks, getting engaged - if you're sure and feeling hardcore, you can even get matching tattoos.

Or, like this couple, you can drink each other's blood. You into that? Nah, think I'll give it a miss, too.

Denis Alberto and his partner, Ilaria, say they enjoy drinking each other's blood as a way to celebrate their bond, similar to how married couples were a wedding ring, apparently.

Unlike your traditional vampires, Denis and his other half don't bite each other. They use medical syringes to extract the blood, after carefully disinfecting the area, and drink it from vials. I don't know if that makes it more or less weird.

"Blood is a mythological bodily juice, it means life for us," Denis said. Fair enough, pal.

He continued: "We drink our blood for the renewal of our love, as a sign of our bond, like married couples wear rings."

The couple, who are from Italy but now live in Germany, met three years ago on Facebook when Ilaria, 20, saw an advert Denis posted, looking for an assistant for his circus act.

The couple now perform as 'Mago Denis' and 'Pretty Pistol', where they dress as vampires on stage. The act has spilled over into their love lives, and the couple regularly drink each other's blood at home.

Denis, 30, allows Ilaria to drink more of his blood than she does his, because he doesn't want to scar her 'gorgeous body' too much, by opening veins to drink from. All this time we've been saying chivalry is dead, when it's actually just undead. See what I did there?

The couple have had pointed caps fitted on to their teeth to make them look more legit, and they dress in gothic outfits to complement their look.

It's not all fun and games being a vampire, though, Denis said he's been told not to eat apples in case they break his teeth. Bad times.
