Jake Paul Previously Said He Didn’t Think People Wanted Tyron Woodley Rematch

Jake Paul is set to fight Tyron Woodley on 18 December after Tommy Fury pulled out

Jake Paul has previously said that he didn't think fans would want to see a Tyron Woodley rematch, but I guess we'll find out if that's true or not as the pair are set to face each on 18 December after Tommy Fury was forced to pull out of their scheduled fight due to illness.

Paul revealed earlier today that Fury wouldn’t be heading to Tampa, Florida, later this month because of a ‘medical condition’ and announced that Woodley would be stepping into the ring instead.

Paul defeated Woodley via a split decision in August, with the former UFC champ keen for a rematch ever since.

The YouTuber turned boxer told Woodley to get a tattoo of his name before he would consider a rematch - and fair play, Woodley went out and got himself a ‘I love Jake Paul’ tattoo on his finger.

Once he was inked up, he again started requesting a rematch.

But, back in November Paul had shot down talk of a rematch, telling TMZ Sports: "By the time he'd got the tattoo, we'd already moved on to fighting Tommy Fury and making that fight negotiation.

"I don't think people really want to see Tyron vs Jake Paul again. He had his chance. He had his chance."

And now it looks as though he’s been given a second chance, after Fury was forced to pull out due to a bacterial chest infection and a broken rib.

In a statement released through promoter Frank Warren, the 22-year-old said: “I am absolutely heartbroken that I have been forced to withdraw from my fight with Jake Paul due to a bacterial chest infection and a broken rib.

“The beginning of my camp was going so incredibly and I never expected anything to come in my way from a victory on December 18th.

“I can’t express how disappointed I am and I really do hope we can get this fight rescheduled in the new year.

“I want this fight to happen more than anything.

“I’m now regretfully putting my focus on recovery and a further reschedule date.”

Earlier today, Paul broke the news to fans in a short, yet expletive-filled clip.

He said: In an expletive-filled clip, Paul said: "Who knows what is going on in that camp?

"I have fought with a broken nose. I have fought while sick.

"The pressure got to him. The [trash talk] got to him."

Paul also revealed that if Woodley was able to knock him out, he’d hand over an additional $500,000.
