Jake Paul Rules Out 'No Knockout' Clause Ahead Of Second Tyron Woodley Fight

Jake Paul Rules Out 'No Knockout' Clause Ahead Of Second Tyron Woodley Fight

Jake Paul says he'll offer $500,000 if Tyron Woodley can actually knock him out in their rematch on December 18

Jake Paul has denied that there is an unusual clause in the contract that he has signed with Tyron Woodley ahead of their rematch later this month.

Woodley – who Paul beat in his last fight – stepped in after Tommy Fury dropped out of the fight due to suffering from a chest infection and a broken rib.

However, in a news conference, Paul has claimed that - despite what some people say – there is no clause in the contract that Woodley has signed that states that there should be no knockouts in the fight.

In fact, Paul says he’s offered to put up $500,000 extra cash if Woodley does successfully knock him out.

That offer extends to future opponents, too.

During the virtual conference, Paul told MMA Junkie: "You know me. I like to make things more interesting all the way across the board.

“There’s been this rumour going around about a ‘no knockout’ clause in my contracts.

“Someone started it and everyone else ran with it. People are like sheep. They believe everything they read or see and they go which way the crowd is going.

“That’s been a rumour that’s completely untrue. I’d be in jail for rigging fights. That’s illegal.

“We just wanted to squash that rumour right away and from now on we’ll be giving bonuses to my opponents if they can knock me out.

“We want to incentivize them and prove to the media and the world that all of these rumors aren’t true.”

Paul’s adviser Nakisa Bidarian then told the same publication that the clause isn’t just like the tattoo bet that Woodley and Paul had after the first fight, which was just shaken on.

This one is written in black and white into the contract.

Incidentally, if you’re not aware, the bet was that the loser of the fight had to get the winner’s name tattooed on themselves.

Woodley eventually got ‘I love Jake Paul’ tattooed on his middle finger.

Confirming that this bet is contractual, Bidarian said: “And to be clear, that’s contractual in Tyron’s agreement,”

“There’s a contractual agreement that if he knocks out or TKOs Jake, he’ll get a $500,000 bonus payment.”

Due to the absence of Tommy Fury, Jake Paul vs Tyron Woodley 2 will take place at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida, on December 18.

You’ll be able to get it on pay-per-view over in the UK, but whether it will still be with BT Sport Box Office – as would have been the case had Fury fought – remains to be seen.
