People Think Tyson Fury May Have Broken Tommy Fury's Rib

People Think Tyson Fury May Have Broken Tommy Fury's Rib

The heavyweight champion was helping to coach his brother, but some of his techniques have now come under the microscope

Tommy Fury has pulled out of his fight with Jake Paul because of a broken rib - and people reckon they have a good idea how he might have sustained the injury. Watch here:

Fury and Paul have been embroiled in a verbal feud for months and were due to settle their dispute in Tampa, Florida, on 18 December, but the former has had to pull out because of a 'bacterial chest infection and broken rib’.

He had been training with his older brother Tyson, and a video of the heavyweight champion smashing him with a medicine ball hasn't aged particularly well.

Commenting on the video - which Tyson originally shared on Instagram on 9 November - one person said: "So this is where the broken rib come from?"

Another wrote: "Now it's cancelled because he has an injury this is probably why lmao."

A third added: "And now, he's out due to injury."

People are speculating that the intensive training might have backfired.

Posting on Twitter, promoter Frank Warren shared a statement from Fury, which said he was ‘absolutely heartbroken’ to have to withdraw from the fight.

The statement read: "I am absolutely heartbroken that I have been forced to withdraw from my fight with Jake Paul due to a bacterial chest infection and broken rib.

"The beginning of my camp was going so incredibly and I never expected anything to come in my way from a victory on December 18th.

"I can’t express how disappointed I am and I really do hope we can get this fight rescheduled in the new year.

"I want this fight to happen more than anything. I’m now regretfully putting my focus on recovery and a further reschedule date."

Warren admitted two weeks ago that the 22-year-old had been suffering from a cold during his preparations.

He told iFL TV: "Tommy had a little bit of a cold but hopefully he is going to be okay.

"We are up in Morecambe [on Wednesday] so hopefully we will know more then, but he is up for it and he wants to fight.

"He can't wait for the fight and I know certainly from Jake's perspective he can't wait for the fight."

Paul mocked Fury for his withdrawal on Instagram, writing that his opponent was ‘pulling out because of a “medical condition” called vaginitis’. He added that he would now be fighting Tyron Woodley on 18 December instead.

Fury told LADbible back in September that he'd 'definitely' knock out YouTuber Paul

He said: "It will definitely be a stoppage win for me.

"A lot of people were saying after my last fight that I should have stopped that guy, but - don't forget - that was a four-round fight.

"If that had been a six-round or an eight-round fight, that guy would have been out of there.

"If me and [Jake] Paul do fight, it's going to be an eight-rounder, or even a 10-rounder, whatever he wants to do.

"I know for a fact, he can't do the eight very well.

"He spent at least three of the rounds, possibly four of the rounds, walking around the ring not throwing a punch, Tyron Woodley the same.

"The two of them probably threw 500 punches in the entire fight. They weren't very active.

"I would be forceful in that fight, putting him on the back foot, purely and simply because he's not been doing it for long enough."
