So That’s What Apple Replaced The Headphone Jack With

It's all rather sensible really.

The Iphone7 and the Iphone7 Plus are having a bit of a hard time at the moment with all the critics exposing potential flaws (mainly the ridiculous looking wireless headphone accessories it comes with).

So, we have told you what differences there about between the iPhone 7 models and the Iphone6 and 6 Plus, but considering how Apple has taken a dramatic left turn away with from the idea of traditional headphones, are you not curious to know what has replaced the headphone jack in the new iPhone? Like, literally replaced it. As in dismantle it and take a gander.

If you look at the components within the framework of the new device where the headphone jack used to be, you would be forgiven for thinking that not much could replace the 3.5mm audio connector. Well, you are forgiven but you are also wrong, reports Mashable. That lot seem to have a bigger budget than us and are happy to dismantle one to tell the world what exists there now.

Doing away with the headphone jack allowed repositioning of many components and the expansion of others. This made space for, among other elements, the addition of optical image stabilisation to the iPhone7 and 7 Plus camera.

And the piece of plastic that replaces the headphone jack? Well, that too has a purpose. Now that the iPhone is water resistant, this simple yet vital part acts as a barometric vent to equalise the internal pressure to have an accurate altimeter. It also helps increase the dynamic range of the device's stereo speakers.

The debate is still going strong as to whether the replacement of the headphone jack was a good move or not. One thing is for sure - careful planning has gone into the design to ensure that every part is utilised to benefit the users' experience. That's why it's so fucking expensive, I take it!
