84% Of UK Gamers Choose PS5 Over Xbox Series X In New Survey
Over half of UK gamers have expressed their intention to choose PlayStation 5 over Xbox Series X when the next-gen consoles launch later this year, with Cyberpunk 2077 far and away the most-anticipated game for the rest of the year.
These results come thanks to a wide-ranging survey conducted by pop culture agency Experience12 (thanks, MCV). The agency pilled over 3,000 "pop culture fans" in the UK through MCM Comic Con's social channels between June 25th and July 2nd. 80% of those surveyed were between 18-34 years old. 48% were 25-34, and 32% were 18-24.
Of those, 58% were male, and 38% female. 2% were non-confirming, and 1% were transgender. When asked whether they were more excited about the PS5 or Xbox Series X, an incredible 84% chose Sony's console. Just 15% said they were more excited by Xbox Series X.
While those nunbers could be taken as an overwhelming win for Sony, it is worth noting that Microsoft is taking a very consumer-focused approach as we step into the next-gen era. We already know that all major Xbox Series X games for the first few years will also be available on Xbox One and PC thanks to the console's Smart Delivery System.

With titles like Halo Infinite and Fable being available on multiple platforms, perhaps those surveyed feel less need to get the Xbox Series X. Meanwhile, games like Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Horizon Forbidden West will be exclusive to the PS5 alone, meaning the people that want to play those games will have to make the switch.
As for when those surveyed expect to buy a next-gen console, 37% said they'd get one at launch. 9% expect they'll pick one up within the first month of release, and 12% will do so within three months. 26% said they'd get one within the first six months of launch, although it's a lot harder to guess when we're going to be able to make the purchase as we still don't know the price of either console.
Experience12 also asked which upcoming releases respondents were most excited for. An impressive 43% answered Cyberpunk 2077, which releases on November 19th. This was followed by Marvel's Avengers, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 - Remastered, Dying Light 2, and Halo Infinite.
Of all of the games listed, Dying Light 2 is the only one that still doesn't have a release date. It's expected to launch in the second half of this year, but at this stage we have absolutely no idea what's going on there.
