SPOILER: Red Dead Redemption 2 Achievement Hints At Red Dead Online Opening Location

SPOILER: Red Dead Redemption 2 Achievement Hints At Red Dead Online Opening Location

Red Dead Online - the mega multiplayer experience coming to Red Dead Redemption 2 later this month - is, quite frankly, a mystery to the gaming community.

All fans currently know is that it'll roll out as a BETA, followed by a full release sometime in the coming months. One thing that's certainly unclear is how Online will begin, in terms of story and setting, and what players will initially encounter.

GTA Online, from Rockstar's previous baby, GTA V, opened at an airport in Los Santos, with your customised character waiting for, and being driven through the city by, a familiar face (Lamar, from its single-player campaign).

Perhaps something similar is planned for Red Dead Online; is Dutch set to be your Western chauffeur? I highly doubt it, as GTA Online's opener was rather dry, and Red Dead 2 deserves far, far better than that.

I do like the sound of this recent fan theory, though, especially because it pays tribute to the game's predecessor, Red Dead Redemption - in particular El Presidio, a fort-like prison located in Mexico.

But Mexico doesn't feature within Red Dead 2? Well, it does; players can glitch their way through an invisible barrier, and guess what's there: El Presidio, looking as beautiful as ever.

The theory suggests players start as a prisoner in said facility, and the first mission requires you to force, fight, or sneak your way out of a cell and escape into the wilderness.

Still not convinced? Here's the deal-breaker: there's actually an Xbox Achievement named "Breakout" that's unlocked through "Red Dead Online: Complete the Intro."

Even more, the Achievement's Icon is shackles. So - unless your character gets stuck partaking in kinky activities from the get-go (we're not judging) - I, for one, have faith in this theory being true. Convince me otherwise, you know where I am.
