‘Apex Legends’ Battle Pass Rumoured To Arrive In A Matter Of Days
Perhaps you've been playing Apex Legends. Some 50 million people have, since the game launched little more than a month ago. (Spoiler: this writer isn't one of them, yet.) If you have, you'll no doubt be very interested to learn that the game's anticipated Battle Pass is all but upon us.
Games Radar - that venerable gaming site of gaming news about gaming things, that should probably be called Games Radar Plus when spoken aloud but that still feels weird, doesn't it - has reported that the date set for the Battle Pass launch is 12 March. Now, before you absolutely lose your shit, a caveat: that's according to an apparent leak, which was picked up by the site Daily Esports, who do not reveal their source.
Said source says: "The Battle Pass will not be purchasable with coins, and will be a static item in the shop." Sounds about right. When I'm in Tesco, the majority of the items on sale are, indeed, static. Imagine: walking, talking Jaffa Cakes. Nightmare fuel (you would gobble those bastards up and no mistake, mind).
Disappointingly, no concrete info on the Battle Pass has arrived in the patch notes made public earlier today. But it's fair to assume that the Pass will provide a host of cosmetic customisation, with skins aplenty and a raft of weapons to pick and choose from. Apex Packs are expected to be dished out as rewards for hitting certain challenges.
Say the notes: "We know you folks are fired up for info on Season 1, and Battle Pass. We still have work to do, to get everything ready for prime time, and won't be talking about it yet."
I'd say thanks for nothing, Respawn, but they DID talk about it a little more. Kinda. Barely. Pfft.
"Over the course of this week, we'll be talking about a few hot topics, and we're kicking things off today with a patch, live on all platforms, with some fixes. [This includes] our first tweaks to the meta, and we'll give a preview of how we'll be addressing Legend balance and hitboxes for Season 1.
"I want to set the expectation that there will be lots of things we can't talk about yet. We won't be confirming or revealing any future content or features in the questions."
The blurb adds: "There are a lot of moving parts and coordination that go into big announcements and launches like this so please be patient. I know the wait sucks, but it's coming and ask that you all, please be patient with us."
But maybe not too patient, if the leak is to be believed. Wanna check out the whole patch notes, with nerfs and all that good(?) stuff? Head to PC Gamer - they've got the facts. And if none of this made any sense, let me refer you to paragraph one, cheers.
