‘Apex Legends’ Is Due Another New Character This Season

Apex Legends is currently in the first week of its first season, Wild Frontier. It launched last Tuesday, along with a battle pass that allowed you to unlock a tonne of cosmetic items for your character. Alongside the new season and battle pass came a new legend: Octane. A zippy fighter who can speed around the battlefield and drop a jump pad for his team to launch themselves into combat. It appears that he won't be the only new character out in season one, however.

"Two new characters will launch over the course of the season but in the meantime, look out for a new weapon set to launch as the season progresses," says the Season One description on the Sony PS Store, spotted by Apex Legends Insider.

There's no word on when that new legend will launch, it could well be in the closing days of the season. Though we can make some guesses as to who it will be.

Early dives into Apex Legends' file registry by dataminers revealed references to Octane and other characters. You can have a look at the other leaked characters over on Reddit. There are nine characters in all, so if they did all end up coming to the game then we could be looking at multiple seasons of new characters.

But, before we can too excited, Respawn community manager Jayfresh has said on Reddit that a lot of the references in the game files are to cut content.

"We know this stuff is fun to dig up and speculate about, but you should not treat any of that info as a source of truth," Jayfresh wrote. "There's stuff in there that is very old, or things we've tried in the past and cut--remember our design process is to prototype and play lots of ideas--and some of it may be things we're still building for Apex Legends. Finding this stuff by no means confirms that it'll ever come out."
