Are Bethesda About To Reveal 'Fallout 5'? Removed Amazon Listing Says... Maybe

Well that was an exciting time for video game fans on Amazon, as a now-removed listing went up for a short spell that seemed to confirm the existence of a new Fallout instalment from Bethesda.

While the listing itself, highlighted by Twitter user Wario64, was simply placeholder, it did have a video attached to the page, with a classic 1950s-style countdown that positively screams: this is a new Fallout. There were also listings for a deluxe and collector's edition.

While Fallout 5 is the easy conclusion to jump to, this listing could perhaps be for an updated version of Fallout 76, or another spin-off entirely. Assuming, that is, it's not just a complete error on Amazon's part. (That said, please, no more Fallout 76... Please?)

Certainly Bethesda could do with something exciting on the horizon to take away some of the heat they've been getting for the disastrous Fallout 76 launch. And Bethesda's director and executive producer Todd Howard - the face of the company, basically - has sure been making noises along the lines of: Fallout 5, coming soon.

Howard has previously stated that he sees Bethesda as a studio with a single-player focus - and after the less-than-positive reception to the multiplayer-only Fallout 76, it stands to reason that the next Fallout game will be another solo adventure - and, in all likelihood, the next mainline, numbered game.

He's also very explicitly said that Fallout 5, when it comes, will be focused on solo content - and with the studio recently advertising for programmers to work on "cutting-edge technologies", could it be that Fallout 5 runs in a whole-new engine... Maybe on next-gen consoles, as well as current systems? (Thanks, PCGamesN.)

What are you hoping for? Excited by the possibility of new Fallout, or has Fallout 76 spoiled your love of the series? Let us know on Twitter and Facebook.
