9-Bang Removed From Blackout After Latest Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4 Update
Treyarch's latest Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII update ditches Blackout's super-blinding 9-Bang grenade, and introduces new Chaos Character missions, MP playlists, and limited timed Blightfather event,
The former, known in the community as the mother of all nuisances, was great at doing its job - maybe too great. Similar to a regular flash bang, players would be temporarily blind if one got chucked at them. Obviously.
But if a fully charged one lands at your feet, you may as well jump into a new lobby. Users complained, saying the grenade was way too powerful, leaving them unable to see, move, or do anything for a considerable amount of time.
It even managed to spawn a bunch of memes, courtesy of Eurogamer. Note to self: If I want something changed in a game, create dank memes. You can view one of them just above.
Anyway, the update. Treyarch didn't say the 9-Bang is gone for good, but that devs will "evaluate [the 9-Bang's] place in the gameplay loop." Just make it the 4.5-Bang, and you're probably on the right tracks.
Funnily enough, the grenade was toned down once before - players could only pick up one after its first nerf - so hopefully the team can get it spot on this time. Every Call of Duty needs a decent flash bang, right?
Troublesome equipment aside, new Blackout Character missions for Black Ops IIII's Chaos Storyline crew have been unlocked. Character mission quest item spawn rates have been increased, too, "so get out there and complete those hidden challenges to drop in as Bruno, Diego, Scarlett, and Shaw."
In Multiplayer, Team Tactical Moshpit, Mercenary Chaos Moshpit, and Mercenary Hardcore Moshpit playlists have been added to the Featured category. And as a bonus, this weekend will see 2X Tier Boost in Multiplayer and Blackout, and 2X Nebulium Plasma in Zombies. It starts on all platforms 10am PT/1pm ET/6pm GMT on Friday, 9 November until 10am PT/1pm ET/6pm GMT on Monday, 12 November.
And finally, even though Halloween is officially over, the Blightfather - which debuted in the Blackout BETA - has been "transported from IX to haunt the Graveyard just south of the Asylum." Anyone who manages to kill it will be "handsomely rewarded this time around." The event is live now and it ends on 13 November.
What do you think about this news? Are you glad to see the 9-Bang go? What will you use instead? Will you hunt down the Blightfather? Let us know.
