‘Borderlands 3’ All But Confirmed By Gearbox’s PAX East Twitter Teaser
This year's PAX East event in Boston runs from 28-31 March - just a few weeks from now. It's a show that's rarely without an announcement or two, a reveal here or there. And in 2019, the biggest news to come out of PAX seems likely to be Borderlands 3.
We already knew that Gearbox, the Borderlands series' developers, would be hosting a panel at PAX East. To refresh your memory, that late-February announcement read as follows:
"This is your opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes look at Gearbox Software and Gearbox Publishing, along with the latest news and updates from the makers of Borderlands, Battleborn, Brothers in Arms, and more! We will have never-before-seen reveals, exclusives, and surprises, so don't miss out!"
And how we laughed at there being anything new from the Battleborn IP. Borderlands, though? A no-brainer, surely, especially with so many prior rumours that Borderlands 3 was incoming. And now Gearbox has gone the extra mile to all but confirming that it's Borderlands 3 that's being unveiled at PAX, with a tweet that, well, totally adds up to such a scenario. Check it out:
Yep, that's definitely a very Pandora-looking environment, isn't it? The sign is for "Exit 3". Exit 3. Come on, now, seriously. The place, and the date: that's PAX East. Everything lines up here - not least that fact that we know that a new Borderlands of some kind is coming, as Gearbox has been chatting about it since 2015.
It's also six and a half years since Borderlands 2 came out, on last-gen consoles, and sure, we've had other games in the franchise since then - the highlight being Telltale's brilliant Tales from the Borderlands graphic adventure series. It's about bloody time we got another mainline entry, isn't it?
