'Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare' And 'Warzone' Season 6 Start Date Confirmed
There's been a degree of uncertainty around whether or not we were getting a Season 6 of Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call Of Duty: Warzone. With Activision gearing up to release Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War in November, some feared that Season 5 would be the last major update for the Infinity Ward-era shooter before Treyarch took the spotlight.
However, it's now been confirmed that Season 6 of Modern Warfare and Warzone will launch on September 29th. Presumably, this will be last season before Black Ops Cold War, but we can't say for sure at this point. The release date for Season 6 was unveiled by the Call of Duty League's Minnesota ROKKR, who revealed that they're hosting a CDL Pros & content creators Warzone event for the Season 6 launch later this month (thanks, Charlie Intel).

There's no word on what to expect from Season 6 yet, but previous leaks suggested that more map changes are coming to Verdansk. Season 5 saw the arrival of a loot-filled train, while also blowing the roof off the Stadium to reveal an entirely new area. Based on reports shared earlier this month, Season 6 could introduce some kind of underground subway network that links various parts of Verdansk.

We also know that Warzone will eventually merge with Black Ops Cold War in a number of ways, as Treyarch confirmed that its upcoming Call Of Duty will share events, characters, progression, and plot threads with the battle royale. This is unlikely to kick off with Season 6, but it's entirely possible that Infinity Ward could start laying down the breadcrumbs for the eagle-eyed lore hunters out there.
With a lot of recent rumours suggesting Treyarch will introduce zombies to the battle royale, it'd be fun to see Warzone build up to that reveal with all manner of creepy Easter eggs - especially as the nights begin to draw in.
For now, lets just mark September 29th on our calendars and wait to see what final surprises Infinity Ward has in store for us ahead of Black Ops Cold War.
