'COD: Modern Warfare' Campaign And Spec Ops Gameplay Coming Soon
As we sneak ever closer to the October 25 release date of Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare, developer Infinity Ward has revealed when we can expect to hear more about some of the game's modes - including spec ops and the game's promising-sounding single-player campaign mode.
According to the official Call of Duty Twitter account, the week of September 16 is set to kick off a string of reveals and updates, starting with more information on exactly how cross-play support will work in Modern Warfare. We already know that the game will support play between PS4, Xbox One, and PC, but it'll good to hear when and how it all shakes out.
After that, towards the end of the month, we'll be treated to more of an in-depth look at the game's campaign. We've heard plenty about the gritty, back-to-basics campaign from Infinity Ward, but we haven't actually seen much of it since the game's original reveal trailer.
It's not entirely clear how substantial a look at the campaign we're going to get. It could be a quick trailer, or Infinity Ward could take us through an entire mission. The latter would of course be preferable, given how little we've seen of the campaign so far, but I'll take what I can get.
Once that's done and dusted, the week of October 6 will see Modern Warfare's anticipated Spec Ops co-op mode revealed in all its glory. This multiplayer mode has really only been briefly touched on so far, and is probably more mysterious than the campaign, so fans will want to keep an eye out for when this reveal drops.
What we do know about Spec Ops so far is that it'll be tied into the game's campaign and multiplayer in a number of unexpected ways. While Activision doesn't want to ruin any surprises yet, it did confirm that "players can experience unified progression throughout the entire game - whether it's across story, online multiplayer or cooperatively."
While we wait for the big news to drop, you'll soon have your chance to go hands-on with Modern Warfare in a series of betas. The PS4 early access beta will run from September 12 - 13, before the open beta kicks off on September 14, ending September 16. After that, an early access crossplay test will be available September 19-20, and the open crossplay beta from September 21-23. To get early access to the beta, you'll need to pre-order Modern Warfare.
