'Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare' Leak Points To Another Returning 'MW2' Map

'Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare' Leak Points To Another Returning 'MW2' Map

Since launching towards the end of 2019, Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare has evolved into something resembling a "greatest hits" package of the franchise. There's plenty of all-new content to enjoy in the popular shooter, but there's also a wide selection of fan-favourite maps from past entries.

Over the course of the game's four seasons, the likes of Rust, Shipment, Scrapyard, Crash, and Hardhat have all returned. Fans have loved seeing so many maps from previous Modern Warfare releases come back, and it sounds like developer Infinity Ward doesn't plan on stopping this approach any time soon.

According to ModernWarzone on Twitter, an account which has accurately leaked Call Of Duty intel in the past, the popular Highrise map will return in a future update. Highrise was one of the more popular arenas from 2009's Modern Warfare 2, so I expect its alleged return will be met with open arms from the community.

'Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare', 'Warzone' Double XP Weekend Incoming

Although as exciting as it would be to see Highrise back in action, it's worth noting a few things. First, and most importantly, it's assumed that ModernWarzone found evidence of Highrise in the game's files... but the account doesn't provide any source. That's always pretty fishy.

There was also no mention of Highrise in the Season 4 Roadmap which was released a few weeks ago, and those things tend to outline the content we can expect from the start of the season all the way through to the end. So even if the map is being added to the game, I don't think it'll arrive as part of Season 4. Temper your expectations for now, is what I'm saying.

With all that said, ModernWarzone's previous record suggests they know what they're talking about. Plus, we can kind of assume that most of the popular past Modern Warfare maps will make it into the 2019 game eventually. And Highrise is certainly widely regarded as one of the best.

You could also argue that Highrise didn't appear in the massive datamine of maps that leaked last year, if you really wanted get to picky about this "leak"... but neither did Hardhat, and that map is very much in the game now. Infinity Ward clearly still has one or two surprises up it sleeve, so lets just take Season 4 as it comes for now. I'm sure Highrise will be along soon enough.
