'Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare' On PC Requires Monstrous Amount Of Storage

'Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare' On PC Requires Monstrous Amount Of Storage

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare has the potential to be one of the biggest games of 2019, offering as it does a gritty reboot of the popular FPS franchise that promises a real return to form, combining an ambitious single-player campaign with a mix of genuinely promising-sounding multiplayer modes.

Even in the unlikely event Modern Warfare doesn't end up being one of the biggest games of the year, it'll certainly go down as one of the biggest games on PC, if you catch my drift, yeah? No? What I'm getting at is that the PC version of game is demanding an insane 175GB of available hard drive space - that's for both minimum and recommended specifications.

This is, by some way, one of the largest install sizes I think I've ever seen on PC. It's certainly the largest a Call of Duty game has ever been. For comparison, Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC - with its massive open world and in-depth story - clocks in at 150GB. That's not to be sniffed at of course, but that Modern Warfare has managed to top it is staggering.

Basically, anything around 100GB is considered, and this is a technical term, as a big chungus of a game. I'm still trying to wrap my head around Modern Warfare being close to 200GB. Does that make it a double big chungus? A chungus XL with bacon? I just don't know. My world has been shattered.

What I do know is that the rest of the minimum and recommended specs are fairly modest. Check them out below for yourself.

It's still not clear just how much space Modern Warfare will take up on PS4 and Xbox One, but I hope for all our sakes that it's not quite as punishing as 175GB, or I'm gonna have to start deleting games from my HDD with the savage detachment of a serial killer.

I'd imagine the PS4 version will clock in at slightly more than the Xbox One, what with PlayStation gamers getting the Spec Ops survival mode as a timed exclusive.
