‘Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare’ Update Released, Fixes Major Multiplayer Issues
Anybody who's been playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's multiplayer modes over the last couple of week will be well aware there are a number of balancing issues. Thankfully, it looks like developer Infinity Ward has heard our cries and have addressed some of them in the game's first major patch.
Perhaps the biggest change - as far as players will be concerned anyway - is that battlechatter has been removed from one-life modes. Operators will no longer yell "CONTACT!" at the top of their lungs, alerting every enemy player in a 12-mile radius to your position, giving them a chance to lay down a claymore and body you with an M4.
I guess it was originally meant to help players be aware they were nearing an enemy with the lack of map in the game, but in reality, got you killed way more than it helped out.
On the subject of noise, footsteps are now apparently going to be much quieter, and filter out based on things like walls and obstacles. That means you shouldn't be heard as you try to get the drop on somebody, only to find out they've planted a claymore - and are ready to body you with an M4.
Another big change is that stun grenades will now disable claymores for up to three seconds - a welcome inclusion that should hopefully filter out some of those 'tactical' campers plaguing the game.

Infinity Ward have posted the full patch updates on Reddit as you can see here, which also include tightening up some bugs that have caused crashes and tweaking some spawns and weapon balancing.
Since its release on 25 October, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has become one of the best-selling CoD entries of all time, and the fastest selling of this console generation.
In our review of the game, we praised Infinity Ward for taking Modern Warfare back to its competitive roots and making it an experience almost on-par with the 2007 original. Our multiplayer reviewer Will McCue said: "The mechanical, visual and aural improvements are incredible, and jumping back into one of my favourite series is an absolute joy."
Clearly, Will likes loud footsteps, and will be lamenting this patch, then.
