‘Castle Of Illusion’ And More Announced For Mega Drive Mini

‘Castle Of Illusion’ And More Announced For Mega Drive Mini

Sega has announced ten more games that will come preloaded on the Mega Drive Mini, including some real classics, like Castle of Illusion and Sonic The Hedgehog 2.

At the tail end of last month Sega announced its plans to release a Mega Drive Mini in September. That initial announcement included ten games - including Castelvania: Bloodlines and ToeJam & Earl. The console will be released on September 19 and go on sale for £69.99.

The new wave of games announced were:

  • Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse
  • Earthworm Jim
  • Landstalker: The Treasures of King Nole
  • Contra: Hard Corps aka Probotector
  • Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master
  • Sonic the Hedgehog 2
  • Streets of Rage II
  • Super Fantasy Zone
  • Thunder Force III
  • World of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck

Those are for the Western version of the console. In Japan the list is slightly different, with some of the game swapped out for Dyna Brothers 2 Special, Game no Kanzume Otokuyoo, The Hybrid Front, and M.U.S.H.A.

That's quite the stack of retro gaming and yet there's more to come. In its original announcement, Sega said that the console would come with 40 games. So far we've only had 20 revealed, so expect another two lists like the above to be published in the coming weeks.
