Check Out The Slums of ‘Cyberpunk 2077’ In These New Pacifica Screens

There's been a flurry or new Cyberpunk 2077 screenshots released during Gamescom, showing off new parts of Night City. Whereas before we've seen the bustling inner city, where people are practically living on top of each other (and noodle bars seem to have been fit into every available gap between buildings), these new screens show a more open area or old malls and dilapidated factories.

It looks like the images CD Projekt RED has shared are of Pacifica, an area on the outskirts of town which is overrun with gangs and slums. It's a place so dangerous that police rarely send officers in on the ground, preferring to leave the gangs to police each other while they monitor from the air. In the presentation we saw, a police helicopter was happy to open up on a building with its guns instead of going door to door with uniformed officers.

You can see the slums in this image, presumably they're not too chuffed with the player bringing their fancy car into their tent city:

This abandoned mall is one taken over by a gang called the Animals, a Haitian group who are the focus of the demo shown at E3 and Gamescom this year:

While Pacifica is a poor part of town, it does still have its markets:

There looks to be a lot of abandoned buildings in Paciica, like this artfully lit warehouse:

While the new screens show off a Mustang-like car, there's also one of V riding this sleek motorcycle:

There's not going to be a Gwent equivalent in Cyberpunk, but there does look to be gaming going on in Pacifica. Maybe we'll be able to take part in a nice game of Mancala.

Will you be headed straight to Pacifica when you play Cyberpunk 2077?
