'CoD: Modern Warfare' Season Two Trailer Confirms A Ton Of New Content
Season Two of Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare kicks off today, bringing with it a slew of new maps, modes, and other fun goodies. Activision and Infinity Ward dropped a trailer for the new season of content last night, detailing everything players can expect from the multiplayer shooter in the coming weeks.
As with Season One, it's important to remember that we won't be getting all the new content in one go. Instead, new maps and modes will be added to the game via regular updates. This content will arrive for free on PS4, Xbox One, and PC at the same time, so you won't be missing out if you chose one platform over another.
Before we properly dive in and go through everything Season Two has in store for us, take a quick look at the launch trailer below for an overview.
So, what are we getting today, launch day? The new season kicks off with a multiplayer map returning from 2009's Modern Warfare 2, which won't come as much of a shock to anyone. Rust has been rumoured for absolutely ages now, and longtime fans will no doubt be thrilled to see the infamous map back in action. The second map is Atlas Superstore, a newcomer to the Call Of Duty universe.
There's also a new Ground War map, Zhokov Boneyard, which looks like it was inspired by Modern Warfare 2's Scrapyard. A number of new Gunfight maps that make the most of the 2v2 modes' smaller-scale action are also being added. In addition, we're getting two new multiplayer modes in the form of Gunfight Tournaments and Call Of Duty League Ruleset Playlist.
Finally, Ghost - another major character from Modern Warfare 2 - has been added as a playable operator. Rounding out today's fresh content we have two shiny new base weapons: the GRAU 5.56 assault rifle and long-range Striker 45 SMG.
That's everything coming today, but there'll be plenty more to sink your teeth into as we progress through the season. One more map, two new operators, (at least) four new modes, and a new weapon are all coming a little further down the line. Take a look at the image below for a breakdown of all the content you can expect. I'm particularly excited for Infected Ground War.
On top of all this hefty new content, there's a fresh Battle Pass for players to get stuck into with its own unique cosmetic rewards, weapon blueprints, Operator skins, and more. There's no set time for when the Season Two update will go live, but based on past updates, we can probably expect it to arrive around 6pm GMT.
