'Cyberpunk 2077' Beta Email Phishing Scam Flagged By CD Projekt RED
CD Projekt RED have warned fans about a rather extensive email phishing scam being employed in an attempt to catch gamers interested in playing Cyberpunk 2077, and stealing their personal details.
The scam asks would-be players to sign up for a gameplay beta of Cyberpunk, prompting the Polish devs to address the situation via the game's official Twitter account.
2/2 Same goes for content creators. We always reach out directly from @ cdprojektred com domain. If you are being contacted by a third party claiming to be working with us (an ad agency for example), you can assume it's not genuine.

CD Projekt have stated in the past that no beta for the game will be made available before its release, but the scammers clearly didn't get that memo. As reported by Eurogamer, this isn't the first time this has happened, either. A Reddit thread posted over a year ago warns of a similar email advertising beta codes to players.
The devs were quick to point out in their tweet that any official correspondence from them will come from "@ cdprojektred dot com", so if you suspect one of these dodgy emails might have landed in your inbox, make a note of the address it's come from before you open it.

If you do happen to think you've been targeted, do not open it. Mark the email as spam, and consider warning your friends and family of the scam so they don't fall for it either.
As mentioned, Cyberpunk 2077 will not have a beta before its release on November 19th 2020. If you want to scratch that futuristic itch in the meantime, check out our thoughts on the game in our preview, in which we were invited to play a behind-closed-doors build of the game. While it undoubtedly tells a great story and looks the business, we still had our reservations.
Cyberpunk 2077 will be debuting on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, with the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game confirmed to work on PS5 and Xbox Series X on the consoles' release days as a free upgrade.
