‘Cyberpunk 2077’ Makers CD Projekt RED Promise Free Game To ‘Breathtaking’ E3 Fan
Nice little addendum to the events of Cyberpunk 2077's spot at the Microsoft E3 press briefing, here. During CD Projekt RED's presentation - which showed a new trailer, gave us the release date of April 16 next year, and confirmed the presence of Keanu Reeves in the game - one fella in the crowd couldn't contain his excitement, and has now been rewarded.
As Eurogamer reports, YouTuber Peter Sark shouted "you're breathtaking" at the Hollywood actor, famous worldwide for his turns in The Matrix series, Bill & Ted and John Wick. It was in response to Reeves saying that walking the streets of Cyberpunk 2077 was going to be, indeed, breathtaking; and after Sark's remark, Reeves added that everyone in the theatre, at the conference, was also breathtaking.
Which is all very sweet, isn't it? (Except, as a general rule, don't scream and shout over these presentations, as it kind of ruins them for everyone else.) And CDPR wanted to mark the moment for Sark, tweeting him after the show that they'd put aside a copy of the collector's edition of Cyberpunk for him. Value: £249.99.
That's, um, a lot of money. Nice one, Peter!

CDPR has confirmed that Reeve's character in Cyberpunk 2077 is Johnny Silverhand, something of an iconic figure in the Cyberpunk 2020 tabletop RPG by Mike Pondsmith, the inspiration behind 2077. Silverhand, eh? What's that name about? Well, take a look at his left arm in the trailer above - an arm that has a hand at the end of it. A Silver hand. Oh, snap.
In Cyberpunk 2020, Silverhand is a 'Rockerboy', a class described as "the street poets, social consciousness and rebels of the 2000s. With the advent of digital porta-studios and garage laser disk mastering, every Rocker with a message can take it to the street; put it in the record stores, bounce it off the comsats."
Haha, record stores - remember those? Memories, such memories. It remains to be seen just how closely Keanu's Silverhand will stick to the 2020 source material. We're guessing: not too closely. And again, well done to Sark. We all enjoyed that 'breathtaking' exchange yesterday.
