'Call Of Duty: Warzone' Is Coming To Mobile Devices
It looks like Call Of Duty: Warzone is headed to mobile devices in the near future, if a leaked job listing is anything to go by. Infinity Ward's free-to-play battle royale has absolutely dominated since launching on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC earlier this year. With PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X upgrades already confirmed, the jump to mobile was surely only a matter of time.
Heading to where the job listing previously lived (thanks, Charlie Intel) tells us that the position has since been filled. While it was up, it indicated that Activision is looking for a "executive producer, features" to work on a new Call Of Duty mobile title called WZM. This, presumably, is a codename for Warzone Mobile - and a fairly unimaginative one at that.
"As Executive Producer, Features you will own product framing and player experience of a new AAA mobile FPS in the Call of Duty franchise," the job listing read. "Developing in collaboration with multiple Activision studio locations around the world, this leader is a skilled communicator and development leader who can define and harvest the important elements that define a best-in-class mobile shooter game, clearly articulate why these elements are important and what their success criteria are, and shepherd those elements through a distributed development organization to deliver the highest quality software product."
The listing then went on to reference Warzone specifically multiple times, stating that the successful candidate would need to "harvest, adapt and deliver the essential features from Warzone console and PC into their best mobile instantiation". It also mentioned improving the Warzone formula by adding in mobile-specific features, and serving as a "primary point of contact on the Warzone Mobile leadership team.

Going off this job listing, it sounds like Warzone Mobile will be a little more than a straight-up port of the console battle royale, and will instead be designed specifically with mobile in mind. It's worth noting that the popular Call Of Duty: Mobile already has a battle royale mode that's doing pretty well... but maybe Activision feels it can do more?
The publisher said during an investor's call last month that "CoD Mobile is off to a really great start. But we're just scratching the surface of what that franchise can be on mobile. Integrating the experiences across multiple platforms, we know is just an incredible opportunity for the franchise."
I guess Activision feels it can go bigger and create a larger battle royale experience on mobile that makes use of the juggernaut Warzone branding. We'll find out soon enough.
