Everyone’s Invited To The Next ‘Ghost Recon Breakpoint’ Beta

Ubisoft has announced that it is running another beta for Ghost Recon Breakpoint ahead of its October 4 release date. Whereas the previous beta was only for people who had already pre-ordered the game and other select invitees, this next beta is open to everyone. So if you've been itching to visit the island of Auroa and take the fight to John Bernthal's Wolves, this is your chance.

The open beta is going to run between September 26 - 29 on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint takes place on a fictional South Pacific island called Auroa. The island is home to Skell Tech, a company that develops advanced AI and drones that are used all over the world. However, the island has been taken over by the Wolves, a mercenary group led by Cole D, Walker, played by The Walking Dead and The Punisher actor John Bernthal. A former member of Ghost Recon, Walker is going to be a formidable opponent.

You're leading the Spec Ops team that's headed to Auroa to take the island back and capture or kill Walker.

Closed beta players had access to the first couple of campaign missions, a few side quests, and small chunk of the island to play in. This new beta will add in two new regions for you to explore. Three more of the main story missions will be playable, so you can get further into Nomad's campaign to rid Auroa of Wolves. There are also new side quests to play, so you can meet more of the island's locals, and the level cap has been raised, too, so you'll be able to unlock and play with more skills than in the last beta.

Ubisoft's polished the game further since it last let players in, so bugs have been fixed and quality of life fixes have been implemented, too.

Ghost War is Breakpoint's 4v4 multiplayer

Another big addition in the open beta is Ghost War, Breakpoint's 4v4 multiplayer. In Ghost War two teams try to wipe each other out as battle royale-esque ring shrinks the map into a tighter and tighter play space.

We played Ghost War at Gamescom in August and had a great time stomping the other team. The two maps we played - one set in a base deep in a tropical forest, the other in a rain-washed construction site - offered lots of opportunities for different play styles. Snipers could find ridges on the outskirts of the maps and on the roofs of buildings to pick off any players foolish enough to be caught in the open. Players looking for more close quarters action could race between cover and take shelter in buildings, waiting in ambush for the other team.

In Ghost War, you can revive teammates that have been shot down by the enemy team, which creates great opportunities for dramatic clutch moments. It also means that you can use downed enemies as bait to draw the mates out into the open...

The Ghost Recon Breakpoint open beta is going to run between September 26 - 29 and will be playable on Xbox One, PS4, and PC. You can read more about it on Breakpoint beta page. After that, you'll need to pre-order the Ghost Recon Breakpoint Gold Edition to play ahead of the game's October 4 release date, that lets you start playing three days ahead of launch.
