'Fall Guys' Huge Launch Backed By Some Absolutely Mind-Blowing Stats

'Fall Guys' Huge Launch Backed By Some Absolutely Mind-Blowing Stats

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout has, if you'll excuse the turn of phrase, knocked it out of the park with a positively gigantic launch.

The game is officially the most successful launch for developers Mediatonic and publisher Devolver Digital, with fans clamouring to get a taste of the Takeshi's Castle-like madcap fun of the jelly bean battle royale action.

Mind that these figures are for the first week and are a couple of days old by now, and you begin to get an idea of just how popular the little game that could has been. While servers have now stablised, it's easy to see why the game was hit with such widespread issues upon release - the world and their dogs were all trying to get on at once.

The above stats are truly impressive, and it's a fact not lost on Mediatonic's Co-Founder & Chief Games Officer, Paul Croft. "It has been overwhelming and humbling to watch the launch and reception of Fall Guys. We're incredibly grateful to all of our players for their support and have big plans for the game in the future," he revealed in a press release. "We're thrilled by the response and can't quite believe how beloved our little jelly beans have already become!"

These big plans include rolling out new modes, with a new final round called Jump Showdown (which appeared in the game's beta but was removed for the launch) making its appearance earlier this week.

The team have also been hard at work banning cheaters, who have unfortunately become a regular sight in matches, but will hopefully become less and less frequent as new patches and updates are introduced.

Clearly, the game has been popular, but fans have been voicing their opinions on their most, and least, favourite rounds. Our very own Ewan Moore recently ranked the current games from worst to best and it's hard to disagree with his assessment. Everybody knows team games are vile and whoever you get lumbered with as a teammate will inevitably drag you kicking and screaming toward elimination with them.

If you haven't played Fall Guys: Battle Royale yet, why not? It's available right now on Windows PC via Steam and PlayStation 4, where it's currently free to those with a PS Plus membership.
