Chinese ‘Final Fantasy XIV’ Players Are Eating Piles Of KFC For Black Chocobos
How far would you go for a limited edition chocobo? The chunky birds of Final Fantasy are lovely and all, but would you eat a dangerous amount of KFC chicken to get your hands on a Fat Black Chocobo? The little feathery tub is adorable but, before you say yes, check out just how much food we're talking about here.
The event currently running in China is that you need to get a family deal for four to get a single code. You also need to dine in at the restaurant to get the code - maybe they want to look you up and down as you walk back to your table with this mountain of food:
- 1 Double Chicken Burger
- 1 Vegan Mushroom Burger
- 1 5-piece Chicken Nuggets
- 2 Original Recipe Chicken
- 1 2-piece New Orland Chicken Wings
- 1 Old Beijing Spicy Duck Roll
- 2 Pepsi (Large)
- 2 Peach Oolong Tea (Large)
Now that's enough food for four people. Of course, if four friends want to get a code each that means getting four of those meals for four. And people in China have been doing just that:
Over on reddit a user going by CozyWolf has been following the deal and the memes that have been spreading through Chinese social media.
Since their thread grew more popular, CozyWolf has filled in more details on the event. You don't have to eat all the food to get the Fat Black Chocobo code, but that's not stopped players from trying. At the start of the event KFC was only planning on giving away 300,000 Chocobo codes, which led to a rush on the restaurants as people tried to get codes before they ran out. You can split the food with other people, but as you only get one code, you might need to get the meal multiple times.
Most importantly, the vegan mushroom burger is apparently the worst part of the meal, with people likening it to french kissing a Morbol:
Essentially, don't underestimate a Final Fantasy fans love for Chocobo, and never get between them and their exclusive mount.
