Free 'Resident Evil 2’ Ghost Survivors Campaigns, 1998 Outfits Will Launch In February

Free 'Resident Evil 2’ Ghost Survivors Campaigns, 1998 Outfits Will Launch In February

Aimed at those who've already completed both of Resident Evil 2's near-perfect storylines, Capcom will launch a trio of extra campaigns for the zombie remake next month.

Named Ghost Survivors, players will have the chance to explore three "what if" stories, centred around characters who didn't originally survive the Raccoon City apocalypse.

These are: the gunshop owner, the mayor's daughter, and the (Umbrella) soldier. Their campaigns are named No Time to Mourn, Runaway and Forgotten Soldier, respectively.

This DLC pack is completely free to those who own 2019's Resident Evil 2. So come 15 February, make sure you head to your preferred platform's store to get downloading.

Last week, a Japanese livestream [via ResetEra] suggested that Ghost Survivors will be a heavily replayable, roguelike mode, with randomised elements and an in-game shop. Thankfully, the shop isn't expected to use real-cash microtransactions. Instead, players can earn points and spend them on, presumably, extra items and cosmetics.

Leon and Claire from the game's main campaigns already boast a wide selection of outfits, thanks to the special versions of Resi 2. This includes the the pair's Noir outfits (which turn the game black and white), and Claire's colourful Elza Walker motorcycle get-up.

'Resident Evil 2' Remake Has Now Outsold The Original PlayStation Game

But not every player owns the more expensive Deluxe Edition. So Capcom will release two new, classic-styled Resi 2 skins for both characters, similar to how Square Enix made Lara Croft all pointy again in its Tomb Raider series.

The retro-inspired costumes will enable Leon and Claire to travel back in time and turn into versions of their original 1998 forms, making both survivors clunky and angular, like the two characters you first met over two decades ago.

Both costumes will also launch on 15 February. Free of charge, once again. Capcom is really showing us how to do remakes, eh?
