Gameplay Details Of ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Have Emerged Ahead Of E3
Just a day after we learned that Marvel's Avengers - previously known as The Avengers Project - will be showcased at Square Enix's E3 conference, we now have more details to share on the much-anticipated title - not that this information was supposed to be in the public domain, just yet.
As picked up by Fandom, a listing for the game's spot on the E3 Coliseum stage, on Tuesday 11 June, briefly revealed more information than it should have done. Click to the the page now and it just reads, under the 1pm slot, "Join Crystal Dynamics and Marvel Games for a panel about Marvel's The Avengers." But if you were quick, you got more than anyone involved with the game was willing to reveal, just yet.
"Embrace your powers and join key members of the development team at Crystal Dynamics and the creative team at Marvel Games as they talk exclusively about the upcoming Marvel's Avengers. This is the defining Avengers gaming experience: an epic action-adventure that combines cinematic storytelling with continuous single-player and co-operative gameplay. Moderated by Andrea Rene, assemble in teams of up to four players, master extraordinary abilities, customise your heroes to fit your playstyle, and combine powers to defend an ever-expanding world under constant threat."
Okay, so there's not a lot of information there, in terms of actual specifics - but so much to get your brain scrambling to piece together what kind of game Marvel's Avengers is going to be.
Optional teamwork: that checks out, this being The Avengers. But exactly how will that manifest? As for dressing them up to fit the situation, that I think we can all get behind - we all have our prefered looks for these world-famous comic icons.
Drop-in and out multiplayer feels like a thing here; but in a campaign that ticks along like an Uncharted, or more like last year's Marvel's Spider-Man, with its open world? After all, we see "ever-expanding world" here - just how big is the play space for this game going to be? Are we talking Earth alone - or will The Avengers of this game be exploring other realms and planets, familiar to fans of the movies?
We don't have all that long to wait until all - well, more - is revealed: Marvel's Avengers is part of Square Enix's show on 10 June at 6pm Pacific Time (so that's 2am in the UK, RIP sleepytimes), and then there's this Coliseum show to look forward to, assuming it goes ahead after this leak.
