'Ghost Of Tsushima' Update Makes Some Nice Changes, Adds New Modes

Sucker Punch has released the first post-launch update for Ghost Of Tsushima, and it makes some welcome changes to the open-world samurai adventure.

Among the various tweaks and improvements, there are two new modes for you try out as you roam the wilds and challenge the Mongols. The first is a pretty awesome-sounding Lethal Mode, in which Jin becomes way more deadly and can cut down enemies with much greater speed.

This is a double-edged sword, however, as enemies are also capable of taking down our hero in just as few hits. A perfect mode for anyone who wants to try out a slightly more realistic experience in their combat.

If that sounds a little too intense for you, then Sucker Punch has you covered. The developer has also introduced Lower Intensity Combat, which does exactly what it says on the tin. This isn't a standard difficulty mode that can be selected from the menu, though. To find it, you'll need to navigate towards Ghost Of Tsushima's accessibility menu, where you'll see the option to turn it on or off at will.

Once enabled, Lower Intensity Combat makes it easier to block enemy attacks. It also prevents enemies from being able to keep at you with a succession of hits after they break your guard. You'll be safe from enemy attacks whenever you stop to heal, and it'll even be easier to avoid fighting altogether as enemy awareness is lowered. A perfect mode for anyone who can't get to grips with or manage the combat in the game, for whatever reason.

Finally, Sucker Punch has added a raft of welcome changes to the game's accessibility menu. You can now adjust the size of subtitles, objectives, and interaction prompts by 150%, which is absolutely something more games need to be doing. Some of us have crappy eyesight and TVs that aren't inches away from our sofas, you know? There are also options to turn off the names of whoever is speaking during subtitles for a more cinematic feel, and the ability to change subtitle colours from white to blue, green, red, or yellow.
