‘Halo Infinite’ Will Launch Alongside Xbox’s Project Scarlett Console In Late 2020
Inevitably, we saw a whole lot more of Halo Infinite during Microsoft's E3 2019 conference. Indeed, it ended the show, with a riveting new trailer starring the Master Chief himself, John-117.
We also got ourselves a rough release date for Xbox's much-anticipated shooter - "holiday" 2020. Which means late next year, for those of us who don't really use the term "holiday", outside of our own breaks to Haven campsites and Euro Disney.
Developers 343 Industries have revealed a fair amount of information on Infinite, already. It'll feature, alongside a new campaign of course, four-player split-screen play and no battle royale mode. Also not along for this particular ride: loot boxes. 343 ain't into those loot boxes.
What it is into, however, is smashing new trailers, like this one...
A spiritual reboot of the Halo series, Infinite will come out right around the same time as Xbox's much-rumoured new console, currently codenamed Project Scarlett. Pretty sure it won't ship under that name, but I'm into it if it does. Our pals at UNILAD Gaming have more news on the next-gen system, said to be four-times as powerful as the Xbox One X. So many frames, so much HDR.
Halo Infinite will also release for Xbox One and PC (Windows 10), and, to quote from Microsoft's own press release on the game:
"This next chapter in 343 Industries' legendary Halo franchise invites players to join the venerable Master Chief on an all-new adventure as he uncovers the mysteries surrounding the appearance of the Pilot and the desolate remains of a Halo ring."
Halo Infinite is powered by 343's Slipspace Engine, which attracted headlines when the game was first shown off at E3 2018. We imagine we'll see even more of Infinite at E3 2020, too - but for the meantime, let the hype... Well, not so much commence, as get more, um, hyped. Sure. That works.
