'Horizon Zero Dawn' Is Coming To PC, According To New Report
Horizon Zero Dawn, the excellent post-apocalyptic open-world action-RPG for PlayStation 4, could soon be headed to PC. Guerrilla Games' critically-acclaimed 2017 adventure will be making its way to Steam and the Epic Games Store this year.
That's according to a new report from Kotaku's Jason Schreier, who claims to have heard from three separate sources "familiar with Sony's plans" that Horizon Zero Dawn will be coming to PC, complete with PC-specific enhancements. So basically, if you only own a PC and have never sampled the delights of Horizon Zero Dawn, you are in for a serious treat.
Horizon Zero Dawn, if you're not familiar, puts players in the shoes of a young hero named Aloy. Set in a far-future version of Earth that's been completely ravaged by a vicious artificial intelligence, you basically get to explore a series of breathtaking forests, caves, ruins, and ancient factories as you fight against robot dinosaurs with a bow, spear, and a vast array of tricks and traps that can all be augmented with tech that you scavenge from around the world. Yes, it is absolutely as awesome as it sounds.
Released in 2017 alongside a raft of other truly wonderful titles, Guerrilla Games' action-RPG managed to stand out thanks to its gorgeous visuals, gripping story, and immersive open world. Oh, and the combat was sublime. You haven't lived until you've shot the cannon off a robot T-Rex and then blasted it to pieces with that same cannon.
Guys, I think I might need to go play Horizon Zero Dawn again.
Funnily enough, Horizon Zero Dawn isn't actually the first PlayStation exclusive to come to PC. Thatgamecompany's stunning indie title Journey made the jump last year, while 2019 also saw Quantic Dream's trilogy of (previously) PlayStation exclusive titles - Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, and Detroit: Become Human - all come to the Epic Games Store.
Late last year it was also confirmed by Hideo Kojima that Death Stranding - currently exclusive to PS4 - will be coming to PC this summer. Personally, I would say Horizon Zero Dawn is the most exciting PlayStation exclusive to make the jump so far, though.
It's also notable for the fact that this would actually be the first PlayStation exclusive from a Sony-owned studio to come to another platform. Whether or not this means PC owners can soon expect to see the likes of God Of War, Marvel's Spider-Man, and Bloodborne on their platform soon remains to be seen... but the more people that are able to enjoy those brilliant games, the better, right?
