Kids Keep Calling Keanu Reeves “Fortnite Guy”

Kids Keep Calling Keanu Reeves “Fortnite Guy”

We all come to popular things at different times - and so, what something means to me may mean something different to you. For me, Epic Games is the Unreal developer; but for someone else it might be the Gears of War developer; and to others it's the Fortnite team. Well, apparently, to one generation of fans Keanu Reeves isn't Ted or Neo, he's "Fortnite Guy".

This comes from an interview with Epic Games creative director Donald Mustard, who says that Reeves would "have all these kids come up to him, all these teenagers on the street, and they weren't doing the normal 'Oh you're Neo, oh you're Wick,' they were calling him "Fortnite guy!"

Now, while there has been a John Wick crossover event in Fortnite, that wasn't until very recently. No, this came about because Keanu looked a little like a Fortnite skin called The Reaper. As Polygon reports, The Reaper skin is sometimes referred to as John Wick because one of that characters' nicknames is 'The Reaper'. Keanu plays John Wick, which makes the whole thing even more like a snake eating its own tail.

Which looks more like Keanu Reeves to you?

It's off the back of this confusion that Epic managed to get Keanu Reeves to agree to an actual official version of himself to put into Fortnite as part of a John Wick 3 promotion.

Of course, this isn't the only game where Keanu Reeves pops up. He's now a main character in Cyberpunk 2077, where he plays Johnny Silverhand, a presumed dead rockstar. Though, the inclusion in that game has led to less innocent questions of Reeves, such as 'Can you have sex with him in the game?'.
