Leaked 'Left 4 Dead 3' Screenshots Show The Game Was Set In Africa

Leaked 'Left 4 Dead 3' Screenshots Show The Game Was Set In Africa

A bundle of screenshots supposedly from a cancelled version of Left 4 Dead 3 have been leaked by the Valve News Network. The game was apparently cancelled in 2013, but it would have been set in North Africa and using a new version of the Source Engine.

There have been rumours of a third Left 4 Dead game for years but it's never been officially confirmed by developer Valve. If this leak is to be believed, the studio was hard at work on a sequel for a number of years.

The screenshots all look to be from the same level, a North African map:

Will Valve ever release a game with the number '3' in the title?

The idea of a Left 4 Dead set outside of the US is an exciting one, particularly as so much zombie fiction is set in America. Fighting through the tight streets of that city looks like it could have presented quite the challenge - particularly if the dead were pouring in from the rooftops above, too.

While this Left 4 Dead game may have been cancelled, we can still look forward to Back 4 Blood, the new zombie shooter from Turtle Rock, the original creators of Left 4 Dead.
