'Marvel's Avengers' Datamine Reveals A Ton More Post-Launch Superheroes
At the time of writing, Square Enix has confirmed that Marvel's Avengers will be getting two post-launch characters: Hawkeye and Spider-Man. Of those two, Spider-Man will be exclusive to PlayStation 4 gamers... meaning those of you playing on Xbox One and PC are stuck with the bow and arrow dude.
I'm not saying Hawkeye is lame, but if my parents had gotten me a Hawkeye action figure and given my sister a Spider-Man action figure? I'd seriously question whether or not they really loved me.
The good news is that there are plenty more post-launch heroes to come, and not a single one of them will be console exclusive. While we don't officially know which other Avengers are gearing up to assemble, a substantial leak uncovered by dataminer RoboMatters (via Eurogamer) offers a pretty comprehensive list.
So, we already know about the following heroes: Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Black Widow, Captain America, Ms Marvel, Thor, Hawkeye, and Spider-Man. That's a solid lineup, give or take a webslinger. However, this new leak suggests that an additional 16 heroes will be coming to the game eventually, presumably as DLC a little later down the line.
I have to say, it's a fairly surprising mix. While there are some big names that you'd expect to see, there are also some seriously obscure choices. MCU stars like Ant-Man, Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, War Machine, and the Winter Solider are all set to appear. But then we're also set to get the likes of Mockingbird, Quake, and Mar-Vell, which I did not see coming.

It's not clear when these heroes will join the game, or even if this is all the heroes Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics has planned. I'm a little surprised at the lack of any of the Guardians Of The Galaxy. It also might have been nice to see the Fantastic Four and X-Men in the mix, especially since Disney and Marvel recently took those characters back from Fox.
Still, the heroes on offer are more than enough for us to be getting on with for the time-being, especially if they all feel truly distinct from one another in terms of playstyle. We can also rest easy knowing that Spider-Man is the only console exclusive hero planned for the game, so the rest of these guys should be released on all platforms.
