Nintendo Lets Slip That ‘Super Smash Bros.’ Is Getting A Stage Builder
I could play Hyrule Temple until the end of days, but I'm never going to say no to new Super Smash Bros. Ultimate maps. And, if Nintendo's latest Smash advert is to be believed, we'll soon be able to make our own stages.
I'm questioning the advert because it looks like Nintendo didn't mean to reveal the new feature coming to Smash. AllSourceGaming spotted that the Stage Builder menu option can be spotted on an out of focus television in the back of shot.
Need a closer look? Here you go:
Nintendo hasn't announced a new Direct, but with COO of Nintendo of America Reggie Fils-Aimé due to retire this week, there are rumours that one will be revealed in the coming days. Stage Builder might be announced in that broadcast, if it were to happen.
It will be interesting to see the toolset that's available in Stage Builder, after all the Mario Maker games have shown just how creative Nintendo players can be when given a big box of toys to play with. While I wouldn't expect a mode in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate to be as involved as that, being able to control things like rising lava levels or moving platforms would be a welcome touch. If we can only make static platform levels, the feature could become quite stale quickly.
