Wanna Be The Very Best? Tune Into The Nintendo Pokémon Direct Tomorrow
Nintendo announced today that there will be a Pokémon Direct streamed tomorrow (27 February), and that it'll contain "roughly 7 minutes of new information". The stream will start at 2pm UK time, so maybe take a late lunch break for it.
Did we also mention that tomorrow is Pokémon Day? That's a thing, apparently. Hence the lovely art, above. The date, 27 February, celebrates the release of the first-ever Pokémon video game(s), Red and Blue, in Japan way back in 1996.
The rumour mill is whirring into life once more, hoping for the first glimpse of a big and glossy Generation 8 Pokémon title. Last year's Pokémon: Let's Go was a (very classy) remake of Game Boy title Pokémon Yellow, so fans are crossing their fingers that the Direct will deliver footage of a substantial new instalment, maybe set in a new location and starring all-new Pokémon alongside the usual favourites.

Will they bring onboard some of the changes to the formula brought in by Let's Go? In other words: can we still use our fancy Poké Ball controllers? (Because one-handed play is just the best for gaming and drinking.) More importantly, will it let me give my Pokémon new hairstyles and hats? A key feature, as far as I'm concerned.
We also got a new trailer for Detective Pikachu, the live-action movie that reminds me that we're living in the *worst* timeline, because Danny DeVito is not voicing the character of Detective Pikachu. Whoever didn't make that happen: shame on you.
And even though I can't fit it into the Actual News above, how about a little joke for you on a Tuesday? Good, good. How do you get Pikachu onto the bus? You poke 'em on! Geddit? I'm here all week.
