PlayStation 5 Digital And Standard Box Contents Leak Online

PlayStation 5 Digital And Standard Box Contents Leak Online

One of the most exciting things about bringing a brand-new console home is opening the box and seeing what's inside. The sights, the smells, the tech. Man, I just love the smell of a fresh next-gen console, don't you?

That's why I was incredibly excited to learn what exactly we'll be getting when we open up our PlayStation 5 boxes in just a few short months - assuming you're getting one on launch day, of course. A detailed new leak recently revealed everything that comes with both the standard and digital editions of the console, and there's some pretty decent stuff waiting for us.

As revealed by the ever-reliable Daniel Ahmad (via a Hong Kong-based retailer), both versions of the PS5 come with exactly the same contents. That's good to know.

Both boxes will include with a console (obviously), a DualSense controller, an 825GB SSD. a base to put the console on, an HDMI cable, a power cable, a USB cable, and an instruction manual. Each will also come pre-loaded with Astro's Playroom, a rather fun looking launch game that has been designed to introduce players to many of the DualSense controller's shiny new features.

The release of this information is a sure sign that Sony is gearing up to announce the PS5 price and release date at long last. A PS5 showcase has been announced for September 16th at 9pm BST, and the expectation is that this is where we'll get the all-important information - along with one or two new game reveals.

Last week, Microsoft confirmed that it'll launch the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S on November 10th at £450 and £250 respectively. All eyes are now on Sony to see if it can match those prices with its own next-gen offerings, or if it'll attempt to justify a higher price point by impressing the fans with a night full of exclusive first-party reveals. I suspect the latter, but we'll find out soon enough.

For now, all we know is that the PlayStation 5 will launch at some point in November - although recent reports suggest it will arrive in the UK a little bit after it releases in the US.
