PlayStation Plus Free Games For April 2020 Accidentally Announced Early

PlayStation Plus Free Games For April 2020 Accidentally Announced Early

It looks like Sony might have jumped the gun a little bit, revealing the two free PlayStation Plus games for April a few days before we'd normally see such an announcement. The official trailer announcing the incoming freebies for subscribers went live on YouTube earlier... before quickly being made private again. Regardless, the damage is done and now we all know what to expect on April 7th.

As caught by Wario64 on Twitter, it looks like Uncharted 4: A Thief's End and Dirt Rally 2.0 are our free goodies for April. Uncharted 4 is one of Sony's finest PS4 exclusives, and an emotional, exciting coda to the adventures of treasure hunter Nathan Drake. I don't know many people who own a PS4 and haven't played this game, but if you're in that minority, now is the time to dive in and see what all the fuss is about.

Meanwhile, Dirt Rally 2.0 is an excellent off-road racing title that released in 2019. Again, if it's free and you're already a subscriber, you might as well give it a whirl even if you don't think it's your cup of tea. You might be pleasantly surprised by the whole thing.

I should also point out as an added incentive during current events that Dirt Rally 2.0 takes players to courses based across numerous real-world locations in the US, New Zealand, Australia, Spain, Poland and Argentina. Perfect for those of us who want to pretend we're not stuck inside for the foreseeable.

As always, both games will be available to add to your library for the majority of April, where they will remain available to download at any time as long as you keep paying your PS Plus subscription.

This of course means that you now have until April 7th to get your hands on March's PlayStation Plus offerings, lest you lose them forever. Shadow of the Colossus and Sonic Forces are this month's freebies. One is a revered and game-changing classic that many argue is an absolute masterpiece in storytelling and design. The other is a vaguely broken and hugely disappointing action game starring a character who's seen much better days.

I'll leave you to decide which is which. I guarantee there are Sonic fans out there who could make a case for Sonic Forces being the former and Shadow of the Colossus being the latter.
